The correct way to replace your factory stereo with an aftermarket is to get the adapter harness. For us the Metra part number is 70-1720. Wire this to the stereo's harness matching color for color except that you should just cap off the Orange dimmer wire. Our car's do not use a power antenna so you also cap off the blue wire. Our car's do not require a dash kit.
In some cases you may pull an aftermarket stereo to find that someone cut off the factory plug. In this case the best thing to do is to get a reverse harness Metra part number 71-1720.
Aftermarket Stereo Wire Colors
Constant: yellow
Accessory: red
Ground: black
Left Front + white
Left Front - white/black
Right Front + gray
Right Front - gray/black
Left Rear + green
Left Rear - green/black
Right Rear + purple
Right Rear - purple/black
dimmer: orange (don't use)
power antenna: blue (don't use)
remote turn on: blue/white (used to turn on aftermarket amp)
Factory Stereo Wire Colors
Constant: white/blue 7.5A ECU fuse under the hood
Accessory: yellow/red 10A fuse under the dash
Ground: black
Left Front + blue/green
Left Front - gray/black
Right Front + red/green
Right Front - brown/black
Left Rear + blue/yellow
Left Rear - gray/white
Right Rear + red/yellow
Right Rear - brown/white
