building and I had I tried a different ecu and it started smoking the ecu. I doesn't make sense to me because both ecus are obd1 and it didnt burn the first ecu and both are same ecus just different tunes. what would cause an ecu to burn up? any ideas?

the ecu that burnt up was working fine in my hatch.

- Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:28 pm #299044 Its just age. The capacitors inside are suppose to be replaced if the ECU is as old as the car. Happened to me as well. Check out my Coupe in the rides section I have pics of what happened to mine. Some people are lucky and there's wont burn up.

I ended up ordering a Ecu from Phearable.net. They replace the capacitors in there tuned ECU's. You can replace them yourself though if your good with a soldering iron and as long as the circuit board is not damaged.
