Civic EG

I get a cel light and go into limp mode when I try to go past 3k only when driving. When not driving I can rev to 7 k. Cel will stay until next start up it goes away. Any ideas??????

have you checked to see what CEL code it's throwing?

1st tell us what the code is

Can't check the code cause when I turn off the car and turn it back on there is no cel it's only when I try driving past 3k it comes on

You should still get a code

These "I got a CEL what's wrong with my car?" threads are always good fun. With enough practice we'll all become psychic.

The code is stored in the ECU. Jumper the diagnostic plug and retrieve it.

Ok its a code 10 and 14 the iat and iavc are plug in correctly. I know my iavc is bad cause i have a loopy idle even after cleaning it. Car is in limp mode.

Ok i read the codes wrong its a code 20 and 4. would this put my car in limp mode?

Those codes aren't too common on OBD1 cars... are you sure you're reading them right?

got any friends with a EG that would let you try their ECU? see if it flashes the same..

Yeah thats what the code looks like. Well i tested the Edl in the fuse box and the ground for it isnt working. Now im gonna have to trace the wires and see why i have no ground right?
