i know this is a old post but why THE HELL NOT VTEC = :o :thumb: :woot: :hehe:

and what year is a k20a outta???

As far as I know.
01+ Civic Type R
02+ RSX Type S (or Integra Equivalent.)

The American Civic Si has a K20a3 and doesn't have the "Preformance Vtec" that the K20a has.

Other good info for buying a K engine in North America.
All "Honda" Badged K engines all have the Economy Vtec as compared to the Performance Vtec. the "Acura" Badged K engines have the Performance Vtec.

Wikipedia Article "Vtec" wrote:For the K-Series motors there are two different types of i-VTEC systems implemented. The first is for the performance motors like in the RSX Type S or the TSX and the other is for economy motors found in the CR-V or Accord. The performance i-VTEC system is basically the same as the DOHC VTEC system of the B16A's, both intake and exhaust have 3 cam lobes per cylinder. However the valvetrain has the added benefit of roller rockers and continuously variable intake cam timing. The economy i-VTEC is more like the SOHC VTEC-E in that the intake cam has only two lobes, one very small and one larger, as well as no VTEC on the exhaust cam. The two types of motor are easily distinguishable by the factory rated power output: the performance motors make around 200 hp or more in stock form and the economy motors do not make much more than 160 hp from the factory.

Not entirely true. The base model RSX has an A3 just like the Si.

I was talking about the USDM Honda Engines, If you look in my post above it mentions "buying an Engine in(should have used From) North America". To my knowledge all current Honda Badged USDM K20/K24 Engines are all the Econemy iVtec, Not the Performance iVtec the Acura badged K20a2 and K24a2 engines have.

The Reason your JDM Engien has the honda badging is becouse Acura doens't exist in Japan, Nor europe. It only Exists in North America, and now China, for honda to Sell there "Luxury" cars. All the "Acura" Badging consists of is a larger plastic spark plug cover with an acura logo where "Honda" is written on the Engine, You can easily take it off or swap it for an "Honda" spark plug cover.

However why just swap a K20/K24 into your EG, when you can now swap in a F20c matched to a Kblock Tranny and run it FWD?

Well it costs alot more, I still plan on swapping in a K24/K20 Frank with Performance Vtec into my EG.

#48500 I would like to add, there is also a base Integra/RSX in Japan and maybe europe(?) that also carries a 160hp version, not sure if its an A3 but just like it.

So Just because it's a JDM k20 doesn't mean it's gonna be the good vtec one ha.

#48796 this is true.
k20a ftw!!

now who wants to install or buy mine!
i'll also takes swaps for b16a +cash. =D
